Overview
The Setouchi Inland Sea has always been the main artery for transport in Japan, conveying culture and goods from Asia and around western Japan. On this tour, you cycle the highlights of the Shimanami Kaidō and Tobishima Kaidō, two of Japan’s most celebrated cycling routes, staying in the best accommodation in the region. You ride comfortable, high-quality Specialised e-bikes, guided by local expat residents who reveal how history and the present are intertwined in this fascinating region. The islands and beaches of the Inland Sea are ideal for marine sports such as swimming, SUP, and sailing. In the summer, we recommend taking a day or two to enjoy the water. You can also extend your trip to the Yumeshima Kaidō on the islands of Kamijima, or visit the lovely old town of Takehara on the mainland. Feel free to ask us for a custom plan.
Who is this tour for?
This tour is for couples, families and small groups who want an active but relaxing time in one specific area of the Setouchi region. You need to be fit enough to ride an electrically assisted bicycle for four days (i.e., not particularly!).
