Hiroshima Castle
Hiroshima Castle was originally built in the 1590s by Mōri Terumoto, from whence he ruled a large area of western Japan. The castle keep collapsed due to the atomic bombing in 1945 and a faithful replica was rebuilt in 1958. The castle grounds are a pleasant place to walk, and the keep houses a museum of exhibits that present a comprehensive overview of the long history of Hiroshima in English. Climbing the many stairs to the top of the keep is rewarded by expansive views over the city.
