Kimita Onsen Mori no Izumi
Mori no Izumi is an onsen hotel just a twenty-minute drive from central Miyoshi. It features natural hot springs, including a high-quality bicarbonate spring — a rarity in the Chūgoku region.
You can visit the baths only for a dip, or stay in the hotel and make full use of the facilities. The hotel has very spacious rooms with big beds, and there’s a lounge with free wine, sake and beer. Dinner features local produce such as sweetfish, served with the excellent sake of the region. For breakfast, there’s bread from the bakery next door.
Mori no Izumi has a morning farmer’s market, and the hotel shop offers locally produced honey, pork jerky, and wasabi pickles among other regional treats.
Next to the hotel is the Hara Michio Art Gallery featuring lots of whimsical cat figurines going about their anthropomorphic daily business.
