When you think of winter in Hakuba, skiing and snowboarding are often the first activities that spring to mind. But there’s a far more relaxed way to immerse yourself in the snow-covered mountains without hitting the slopes. Treading through the quiet snow in snowshoes, feeling the natural atmosphere enveloped in white has become one of Hakuba’s most popular winter tourism activities. Now, Hakuba is offering custom snowshoe hiking packages for travellers. Whether it’s your first time on snow or you simply wish to admire the scenery leisurely and take photographs, you can participate with complete peace of mind.

There are two distinct snowshoe routes:
• Hakuba Valley
• Iwatake Resort

All tours operate on a private group basis, accommodating up to seven participants per group. Both routes offer morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. Each tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours and includes convenient free pick-up and drop-off from accommodation within Hakuba Village.

Within Hakuba Village, the actual route will be selected based on daily snow conditions, weather, and participant fitness levels, favouring less-travelled, relatively quiet snowy trails.
