Mt. Bizan from Tokushima city

Mt. Bizan

Located in the middle of Tokushima City, Mt. Bizan stands 280 m high. It offers a 360 view of the city and its surroundings, including the Kii Channel of the Inland Sea. In spring, it’s a good place to see cherry blossom. On a clear day you can see Awaji Island and distant Wakayama Prefecture on mainland Japan. The view at night time is equally impressive.

The top of the mountain is accessed by a cable car, a steep path that leads up from behind the cable car station, and a winding road for vehicles.

The slopes of the mountain are home to several shrines and temples, and the peak has several notable buildings including a Burmese pagoda, which serves as memorial to the dead of World War II.
