How to Use the Coupon
Show your passport and the coupon to the staff before you pay, and have the barcode scanned at the register. Spend ¥30,000 or more (before tax) to unlock the 7% rate — and combined with tax-free shopping, you save up to 17%.

From 1 November 2026, Japan’s tax-free system changes to a refund system: you pay the tax-inclusive price in store and receive the consumption tax refund when you leave Japan. Even under the new system, Takeya in Ueno, Tokyo charges no tax refund fee (¥0).

How the new tax refund works at Takeya (3 simple steps)
STEP 1 Shop: Show your passport and pay the tax-inclusive price (the coupon discount is applied to the pre-tax amount). After payment, complete the refund registration using the dedicated QR code.
STEP 2 Confirm at the airport: Within 90 days of purchase, complete customs confirmation at the dedicated terminal at the airport (before you check in your luggage).
STEP 3 Receive your refund: The refund is sent to the payment method you registered at the time of purchase.
