Cape Muroto Lighthouse
Below Hotsumisaki-ji temple is a lighthouse, built in the Meiji period. Despite attempts to disguise it during WWII, its lense was damaged by strafing and the current lense is a more recent type. When it stops rotating, it’s always aligned north-south to prevent damage by the sun.
The contrast of the elegant white tower against the blue Pacific makes a dramatic scene.
