Overview
This 4-night, 5-day tour is a cycling trip that incorporates the Cycling Shimanami event held once every two years. In this event, the Shimanami Kaidō is closed to traffic and over a thousand cyclists ride together on the highway itself, in a giant festival of cycling. Most people return home after the event, missing many of the scenic and cultural attractions of the Setouchi region where the Shimanami Kaidō is located.
This tour incorporates the Cycling Shimanami 2026 event as part of a longer tour, enabling you to make the most of your visit. On other days, you get to cycle around the peaceful islands of Ōsaki-Kamijima and Yuge, and stroll around the picturesque sake brewing town of Takehara, the birthplace of Japanese whiskey. You can also explore, Onomichi another beautiful, historic city, typical of Setouchi.
A private vehicle takes you to where you need to be and carries your luggage, and a guide ensures that you make the most of your trip.
Who is this tour for?
This tour is for people who want to experience the joy of cycling in Setouchi during the region’s biggest event, and exploring the region in depth at your own pace.
